The boys' state fair

The second graders at Watson do a state fair.  Each student selects a state to research and learn about.  Then, they present about their state to the school and the parents.  Pierce and Graham loved the project and were excited for the day.

Pierce had Maryland
(He is a Ravens fan)

Graham had Missouri
(he doesn't know why he picked it)

Monroe's 14th birthday

It is a birthday party year.  (We do friend parties every other year.). Monroe wanted to do a party at our house and watch an outdoor movie.  With her birthday being in mid April, it is hard to tell what the weather will do.  With about a week to go, we realized her party day was going to have temps in the mid 80s.  Perfect!

She loves the cake from Russ's with whipped frosting

Personal pizzas that Zach cooked on the griddle outside

Blankets, candy, and skin care were themes in her gifts

She's 14!

She has the sweetest friends.
We have made it through middle school without any girl drama.  I didn't know that was possible.

They serenaded her with some intentionally bad singing.

The movie was a big success!  They couldn't agree on a recent movie, so they chose an old one: the first Descendants movie.  The weather was perfect!

On her birthday three days later, we did gifts.  She's at the age where she knows about all of them. She got a new suitcase (she's going to DC this summer), athletic shoes, athletic shorts, a swimsuit, and a game.

This is the only picture I took at Texas Roadhouse.  We did not tell our waiter it was her birthday.

We got cookies for her dance class.

Happy 14th, Monroe!  We love you!

My birthday

On my birthday, Monroe had dance pictures and then a volleyball tournament.  Zach was insistent that I open gifts before we left for the tournament.
He knew I would want to wear my new shoes!  These are definitely the coolest shoes I've ever owned.

And a new pillow

The kids got me a bunch of my favorite things.

The next day, Sunday, was very relaxing.  We drove to GI for supper.  The whole way there everyone kept asking where we were going.  I finally landed on Red Lobster, a restaurant we hadn't been to in years.  It was really good!

It was a nice birthday weekend!
