December Fun

I bought this book about a year ago when a good friend recommended it.  I was in NO hurry to potty train two boys, but I finally decided to start reading it on our drive home from Thanksgiving.  According to the book, the ideal time to potty train is between 20 and 30 months.  (Her theory is that after 30 months, they express their freewill more and may refuse to do what's asked.)  Pierce and Graham were 30 months when I was reading it.  I went out and bought two potty chairs the next day and we started potty training that weekend.  We started with them completely naked Day 1.  Day 2, they were in pants with no underwear.  The weekend went great.  Way better than expected.  We sent them to daycare for the next few weeks in pants with no underwear.  We had very few accidents.  They were quite compliant and willing to try when asked.  In some ways, I think two was easier because their best buddy was doing the same thing.  It was also a competition between them, who could do potty first, who had the bigger poop, who got two m&ms.

Monroe had her first piano recital.  She has learned a lot in a few months.

Monroe went to a dance camp at Hastings High

She, of course, loved every minute of it

A family friend has a village train collection that they have set up in their house.  A few nights over Christmas, they open it up for the public to come see it.  It was like nothing I'd ever seen.

Burkle Christmas

We got to host my family's Christmas this year at our new house.

This is the only picture I have, but the boys got adorable rain boots.

This year's food challenge was a breakfast challenge.

Egg sausage waffles by us

An invention created by my parents
(Their entry is always the most creative/unique)

Breakfast sopapilla by Jess and Rod

Josh and Megan were the winners

These two are both taking piano lessons.  It was cute to see them sitting down to play.

Hosting Christmas was great!  This was the first Christmas break that we have done no traveling.  It definitely made the break feel longer.
