Anniversary Trip to the Dominican Republic

Zach and I celebrated 15 years of marriage on July 15th.  We have not been on a trip outside of the US since before kids. We were determined to go somewhere for our 15th.  We asked our friends, Josh and Amy, to come with us.  They were celebrating their 10th anniversary.  We chose Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Can you tell how excited we are to be here?  We upgraded our rooms to have our own swimming pool.  We're standing in about two inches of water here. We used this pool every day.  I loved sitting on these lawn chairs and reading a book in the mornings.  Although we shared it with four other rooms, we were the only ones to use the pool while we were there.

Our resort was beautiful!

On our third day, we went on an excursion.  We took a yacht to an island.  We also snorkeled and swam in different places along the way.

While we were on the excursion a photographer posed and took pictures of us.  We had no intention of purchasing them, but when she showed us the pictures on the way back, we decided we should get them.  Taking pictures of ourselves is just not something we do.

This one was my very favorite!

We were well taken care of during our stay.  This was one of three things they did for our anniversary.

We ate at the buffet every breakfast and lunch.  For supper, we went to a different themed restaurant each night.  Japanese was our favorite!

That night, they had karaoke.  Zach sang a Backstreet Boys song, and the crowd loved him!

They asked him to sing another one, so we sang a duet. The rest of the trip, guests and workers talked to him wherever we went.  He was like a little celebrity :)

We chose a resort with a golf course.  The boys went one morning.  They said it was fun but hard.

While the boys golfed, Amy and I had hot stone massages.  It was wonderful!

These two were so stinking fun!  We laughed constantly and got along so well!

One of many different drinks we tried.  We rarely had the same drink twice.

A friend of mine from high school was at the same resort as us!  What are the chances of that?

I love dessert, and since our resort was all inclusive, we tried most of the desserts each night.  They were always so fancy!

Heading home
It was such a fun, relaxing get-away!  We can't wait to travel with Josh and Amy again in the future!
