Labor Day Weekend (parasailing)

For Labor Day weekend, we went to North Platte to spend time with my parents.  While we were there, my mom and I went parasailing at Lake McConaughy.  This was my birthday present to her.

During the ride, we were over 500 feet in the air.  It was beautiful and peaceful up there.  We were up for 15 minutes.

I would recommend parasailing at McConaughy to anyone.  I am not a thrill-seeker, and I don't love heights.  Parasailing was easy.  The take-off was a little scary.  After that, it was a smooth ride.  It only cost us $60 per person, so it was definitely worth the money. The whole thing was about an hour long.

The Husker game started while we were on the boat, so we drove to a restaurant to watch it.  We went to Ole's in Paxton because we knew Monroe would love the animals.  Ole's is full of stuffed exotic animals.  Monroe loved walking around and seeing everything.

The elephant was above our table

The next night, we went to Cody Park for the rides.  You may remember that last year didn't go so well.

This year was so different.  She loved all of the rides!

After the train, she rode the swing with Mommy and the Carousel with Daddy.

Then she rode the ferris wheel.  We were a little nervous that she wouldn't stay seated because there were no seat belts. She did great!

After the ferris wheel, she wanted to try the last ride.  This one goes quite fast.

The first few times around, this was the face she made.

Then, she started smiling.

She rode a few of the rides again and then we got ice cream!

The next morning, I drove to Gothenburg for a friend's baby shower.
The four of us were best friends at Hastings College.  Lindsay (the mommy-to-be) and I were roommates for three years.

We had a great time in North Platte.  It was so nice to have Grandma and Grandpa to ourselves.

Watching a movie on the way back to GI.

  1. Ahhhh Cody Park...that brings back so many childhood memories! The rides haven't changed at all; I remember every one.
