In the spring I found out about a youth theater company in town that was putting on a musical this summer and 3-8 graders could audition. I posed the idea to Monroe, and she agreed to try out. We really didn't know what kind of commitment we were getting ourselves into at this point. She auditioned as was cast as Linnean, the cloth merchant. It was a nice little part with 18 speaking lines and two little solos. Monroe started practices in June. They were in the evenings from 5-7 about two nights a week. Then in July they were five nights a week, which got to be a lot. Thankfully Monroe loved every second of it. She knew her parts (and everyone else's) early on. We had the musical CD in the car, so the whole family knew all the songs long before the show. Finally, show week arrived at the end of July.

Monroe was so fun to watch! Whether she's dancing, singing, or acting, she shines on the stage. I expect we will be watching many more performances in her future.

Rockin' Robinhood was a great experience. We will definitely do Boxcar theater again, although we may take next summer off.
Thank you to all of our family and friends for coming to the shows. It meant a lot to us!
