Paleo - Week 4

Week 4

Total weight loss:
Erin -  7 pounds
Zach -  19 pounds

Pros:
1. I think I could repeat every positive that I have put on the weeks before.  We are feeling great mentally and physically.  We like how our bodies are feeling and we feel good about ourselves for eating this way.
2. Even with cheating on Friday and Saturday for Zach's reunion, we both lost weight this week.
3. We read on a paleo blog, that in eating this way, you will have a lot less food, especially vegetables, go to waste.  We are definitely seeing that.  Our food is all getting eaten instead of going bad.

Cons:
1. The main negatives are the same as well.  It is expensive and time-consuming.
2. We also are struggling to decide what we are going to do with Monroe in a week when she goes back to daycare.  Do we have Mikki feed her what she normally would, or do we pack a paleo breakfast, lunch, and snack each day?

Favorite new recipes:
salsa beef with spaghetti squash, sweet potato pancakes, pulled pork, blueberry muffins, mashed cauliflower, banana nut pancakes,

This is my last weekly post.  I will do an occasional update if things change.  We plan to continue to eat paleo and hopefully make it a lifestyle change.

Kearney Children's Museum

For this week's play date, we drove to Kearney to go to the children's museum.  I had never been before.  The museum is awesome!  Monroe loved everything!
Digging for fossils

There were three other moms that came: Danielle (Landon), Ashley (Paisley), and Megan (Jadyn and Brynlee).

I LOVE this picture of Monroe and Landon!

Dancing

The kids spent a lot of time at the market.

This picture doesn't capture it well, but Monroe was dancing while Landon was playing the drums. It was super cute.

After the museum, we went to lunch and then Target and Old Navy.  It was a fun day in Kearney!

Paleo - Week 3

Week 3

Total weight loss:
Erin -  5 pounds
Zach -  15 pounds

Pros:
1. We went out to dinner for our anniversary and stayed true to paleo. We went to Texas T-bone.  We both ordered salads (their salads are amazing), steak, and steamed vegetables.  After dinner, we went to Red Mango to cheat.  While we were eating the yogurt, we both decided that it wasn't worth it.  It just didn't taste as good as we were expecting.  Afterward, we both had minor stomach aches.  It's amazing that two weeks of eating this way would make that much difference.
2. Zach's parents have started eating paleo, and they are loving it.  With them doing it too, we share recipes and ideas.  It makes the whole thing easier to have others doing it with us.
3. This is going to sound weird, but both Zach and I have noticed that our teeth feel cleaner.  We think this is probably because we are eating good food and no sugar.

Cons:
1. I was discouraged that I didn't lose weight this week. Zach didn't like that he didn't lose much either.  My primary goal has never been to lose weight, but it was still hard to see no progress in this way.  Zach keeps telling me that I need to be keeping track of inches instead of pounds.

Favorite new recipes:
butter pecan ice cream (made by Zach's dad), kale chips, bacon spinach frittata, apple crumble, chopped broccoli salad

We got our car back

After a month in the shop, we finally got our car back.  It was nice that it was summer, so we could make do with one car for so long.  We are extremely pleased with the work that was done and the shop that did the work.
Isn't she a beauty?

Swimming Lessons

Monroe did swimming lessons again this year.  Zach and I did it with her.  So did Jadyn, Landon, Paisley, and their parents.

Monroe tried dressing herself.

The whole gang

Monroe and Landon held hands all the way to the car one evening.

Jadyn

Monroe loved the songs and activities that we did.

Paisley

Landon got sick and missed the whole second week of lessons.  When he was there, he and Monroe spent a lot of time together.

On the last night, we got to use the water slide.

Jadyn and Paisley

Monroe was not a fan.

Monroe got an excellent report card.  Our teacher said she should do the preschool class next year.

Thanks to Ashley for letting me use some of her pictures.
