January Fun

Remember my Christmas present of wall stickers.  Here they are up.  I think they look great and go well with the decor in our basement.

I knew it was going to take a very special photo shoot for me to replace the photos in this gallery wall.  Our snow pictures convinced me. I love the new wall! (This gallery wall is impossible to photograph.)

A new puzzle from my in-laws
Just the kind I love

The boys love puzzles and helped me with a lot of it.  Once it was complete, they would pick a rectangle to redo.  I would take out just that chunk and they would put it back together.

Our library is still closed, so you call to request books and then pick your books up at these lockers.

Our new favorite thing to do: LEGOS!

I love the workout program Zach and I started at the end of December.  I have gotten so much stronger!

Snow Day x2

Sunday afternoon, January 24th, school got called for the next day.  It was great to know so early.
The boys wanted to paint their nails.

I got no pictures of the kids in the snow, but they were impressed with this tunnel created by the snow.

Monroe went a little crazy while the boys napped.

Round one of snow blowing

We ended up getting a foot of snow, and they called school for Tuesday as well.

They went outside three different times during the two days home, but the only playing-in-snow pictures I took were playing inside.

Snow days are definitely one of the big perks of teaching.  I love bonus days home as a family.

Lasik Eye Surgery

Zach has worn glasses since third grade.  Although he has contacts, it is very rare that he wears them.  His eye doctor in Grand Island told him a few years ago that he was a perfect candidate for Lasik because of his correction.  We talked about it for a few years.  Then, our friend, Amy, had her consultation for surgery over Thanksgiving.  Zach liked the price she told him, so he called to schedule his consultation.

His last picture in glasses.

I thought I was going to get a couple hours of shopping in, but I got a phone call 45 minutes after dropping him off that he was done.
He was supposed to lay down and close his eyes for four hours.  When he got in the car, his eyes were really sensitive.  He thought the light was so bright.  I went to a few more stores while he rested, and then we headed home.

When his four hours were up, he could already read things across the room.  He was quite pleased.

The only negative thing is that his eyes have looked like this for a month.  For the first few days, I couldn't look at him without my eyes watering.  He was told the redness could last 7-14 days, but it's lasted much longer. We're ready for it to be gone :)
