My birthday

Zach took our kids shopping for me for my birthday.  All three wanted to get me a plant, so he had to talk them into different things.  Pierce picked out a beautiful variegated ZZ plant.

Zach's parents made me bread pudding, and it was DELICIOUS!

Graham got me an egg pan.  I eat eggs every morning, and he thought I should have a new pan :)

Monroe got me flowers and money toward a shopping day for the two of us.

I had a love/hate relationship with the boys' hair.  I loved it long, but it was also more work than when it's short.

The boys will be 7 shortly, and they still had infant pictures on their wall.  It needed a refresh.

Graham lost both of his front teeth.  He is so stinking cute.  Monroe didn't lose them at the same time, so this is my first toothless kid.  

My mom's surprise birthday party

My mom's 70th birthday was on March 25.  We planned her a surprise birthday party that definitely caught her be surprise.  

We had a great turn out with so many friends coming to celebrate her.

The next day my siblings and spouses all went to brunch and Book of Mormon.  Zach and I had seen it maybe eight years ago.  We loved it again, and so did everyone else.  The music and satirical humor are so well done!

House of Colour

 

I have been wanting to get my colors done for a while now, but I also struggle to spend money on myself.  Last year for Christmas, I asked Zach's parents for money toward getting my colors done.  I never made an appointment, though.  When I got cash from them again this year and realized I still had the money from last year, I made the appointment.  I talked Amy into doing it with me, although she had sworn she never would.    

It was such a fun experience!  I learned so many things about the colors we wear and how they can affect our faces.  

Amy is a summer.  She looked beautiful in soft pinks, purples, and blues.

I am an autumn.  

I didn't have any expectations going in, but I was surprised that I looked good in browns, greens, and oranges.  I didn't think I had much of those in my closet, but I do have a lot of greens and mustards.

I had not gone shopping for clothes in quite a while because I wanted to do a lot of shopping once I knew my colors.  I have thoroughly enjoyed knowing.  I now only focus on things in my season when I'm in a store, and I'm trying to expand my wardrobe in colors I don't already have, like browns.  I have gotten many compliments in the last three weeks wearing autumn colors and makeup.

Zach would say I'm obsessed.  He may be right.  I really want to get his and Monroe's colors done now too.  I would recommend this to anyone!

More concerts

 

The entire 6th grade had a vocal concert this quarter.  Thats almost 300 students on the risers.  

Monroe opened the concert by greeting the audience.

Monroe was in a few music groups that got to compete at the Malcolm Music Contest.  Her small band ensemble earned their way to Malcom, but unfortunately the weather kept them from going that Thursday.  She did get to go the next day for vocal and orchestra.  Monroe was in the only 6th grade small ensemble for orchestra. They scored a 1+, which is the best score you can receive.  Zach and I did not got to Malcolm, but my parents were able to go watch her.
