Ever since the elephants arrived, Monroe has been begging to go to the zoo. We planned our trip around when we could meet some friends there. Our friend Tim was coming to Nebraska for a friend's wedding. He met us at the zoo when his flight came in. We also met Terry there, a good friend from college. She just had a baby a month ago, so we got to meet James and see Avery.
As we walked in, we also saw Sarah, another friend from college. We caught back up with her later and spent the whole afternoon with her and her kids.

The zoo added a splash pad in the last year. Monroe said it was the best splash pad ever because the water was actually warm. Monroe had fun with Alayna and Ryder.
The rainforest roof was under construction and it was really loud, so I sat outside with the boys.
The boys did so well! I think the heat kept them sleepy. We stopped to feed them twice and then they would fall back to sleep.

We had a wonderful day at the zoo! We ended up being there 7 hours!
On the way home, we stopped at the outlet mall in Gretna for school shoes and supper.
Tim stayed the weekend with us. It was so nice to have him!
