Two weeks ago on Wednesday, Zach called me to tell me he had lost his wedding ring at football practice. He has lost 30 pounds so his ring was loose on his finger. At practice, he was hiking the ball, and his ring went flying off. All of the players immediately started looking for it. They had an organized system for looking, but no one found it. After practice, Zach, the other coaches, and many of the players went to look for it again with no success.
Zach had a football game out of town the next day, so I went out to look for it with Mikki's two sons. (Kirk is on Zach's football team, so he knew where to look.) I had borrowed a couple of metal detectors from people at school to aide in our search. Grant and Kirk were really helpful, but we left with no ring.
Zach and I went out one more time the next day with metal detectors in hand. After an hour, we declared that the ring was lost. We started looking for rings online to replace it.
Then, this Friday, Zach called with good news. A 7th grade football player had found his ring. It was nowhere near where we had looked or where he had lost it. It was up by the building. We think it either bounced off someone, was caught in someone's clothes, or thrown by the lawn mower.
We are so happy to have his ring back. We didn't want to pay for a new one or replace the original. Now, we just have to get it resized so that it doesn't go flying off again.
