Getting ready for Christmas

Because we were hosting a Christmas party at our house on December 5th, we started decorating for Christmas early.  It was fun decorating a new house, and nice to do it over a couple of weeks instead of all in one night.
 Monroe loved helping this year!

I've never had a mantle before, so it was fun to decorate.

We decided we needed an additional Christmas tree for this house.  Zach picked this one out, and we love it.  It is a pencil tree with snow, berries, and pine cones.

Monroe was excited to start her calendars on December 1st.

We also give her a gift on December 1st.  This year she got Christmas jammies, a movie, a book called "Santa is coming to Nebraska" and her Christmas blanket from last year.

At the bottom of the box, Ellie the Elf was hiding.  Monroe couldn't believe she was back.

Ellie had to see the pictures while Daddy read.

That night was the Newell Christmas program.  My students all looked so cute and sang well.

Monroe chooses an ornament each year for her tree.  This year she chose Dorothy from Wizard of Oz.  Finding one was difficult.  The only ones I found in stores were ruby slippers.  Monroe wanted Dorothy, not her shoes.  At Hallmark they had a Dorothy, but it cost $37.  Finally I found a cheap one online.
